ysl arty

i'm not usually a fan of birthdays because i get older and not always that much wiser. but, who doesn't like beautiful birthday presents?

nik generously got me the YSL arty ring which i've wanted for a year now! i'm so thankful and excited to wear it. i love the creativity of the peace. it's appropriately named the arty ring. the photographs don't serve the flecks of gold in the blue stone justice. the blue is versatile all year round. ideal.

they've now come out with gunmetal settings but i'm always a fan of classic gold. it conveniently compliments my birthday gift to myself... pictures of that to come.

sequins, plaid, & faux leather

dress: backstage // plaid: vintage // jacket: h&m // boots: anne klein // bag: balenciaga

meant to wear this dress in vegas but the reality of the situation was, i spent more than half the trip in my pussycat dolls booty shorts. comfort apparently, was key. i really didn't want to waste this dress as i don't see another occasion to be fancy anytime soon. and let's face it, by then i'll probably want a new dress anyways.

plaid over the sequins and a more rugged "leather" jacket turned the dress from night to day. done and done.

ps... photos + modeling was an epic fail for this shoot. nik and i were suffering from our raw diet/cleanse. inability to focus and angle properly were very evident when going through the shots.

my favorite plaid shirt

unlike most fashion lovers, i'm not intensely attracted to vintage finds. mostly i find that the pieces have bizarre silhouettes or protruding shoulder pads. not flattering on my 5' 2" frame at all. however, i do like vintage flannels and denim cut offs. more than a lot.

i found this men's flannel at a small boutique on the sunset strip and it literally feels like i'm wearing pajamas. i'd be lying if i said i didn't live in this for an entire week. hygiene was not my greatest concern, clearly. i've since then picked up a few different flannels that i can rotate but none that have that same relaxed, cool vibe.

& let go let go

top: vintage shorts: levis shoes: dolce vita bag: henri bendel jewelry: chan luu, lomas, & pink paisleys

i met this lady who designs for free people, anthropologie, and bloomingdales this past DTLA artwalk. her pieces were gorgeous. very ornate and not for the light of heart but the detail and complexity is definitely apparent. each piece had some kind of vintage component which made it one-of-a-kind, my favorite kind of jewelry! i'm mildly obsessed with handmade jewelry. i just think it means so much more than forever 21 - made with some kind of 9 year old's indentured slavery on some sort of machinery in some impoverished nation.

finally trying that one sushi place in westwood tonight. yamato i think...

working on selling more clothes on ebay tonight.

& cheers to the freaking weekend

kat showcased her lomas line. i loved everything! i ended up getting a white feathered necklace that i've already worn 4 times!

post flea market lunch in japantown with nik. my official photographer in case i don't mention it enough. also the best friend.

last sunday, nik & i ventured to the pasadena flea market to support kitty kat. she showcased her lomas line, named after her mom's maiden name which i must admit is crafty. no offense to my mom but people would definitely struggle attempting to pronounce my mom's maiden name so maybe not the best name for my jewelry line.

anyways, after seeing kat and going to the art walk last thursday and basking in so much creativity, i spent this entire weekend gathering more materials and making a jewelry. i was so incredibly inspired. i have big plans for my new jewelry collection but i'm not ready to share the details.

have a lovely week!

& to tell you the truth, i miss everything

"i've been high
i've been low
i've been yes
and i've been oh hell no.
i've been rock & roll and disco
won't you save me san francisco?

i've been stop
i've been go
i've been yes
i've been oh hell no"

there comes a point in life when you simply have to learn to let people go. really.

i've always been persevering. a positive and negative trait all bundled up in a basket of joy. it makes me a very hardworker who will keep on going like the energizer bunny. that aside, it makes me a terrible person. sorta. i guess in the realm of friendships and relationships, the fine line between keep trying to make it work, versus, abandon ship has always been fuzzy for me. yesterday i did not have a very good evening. that's for sure. and when i thought about who do i call? i'm miserable?

it was that moment that i realized that i need to learn to depend on absolutely no one. i guess reverting back to how i was in high school. no more relying on others to help me find happiness. i'm going to be a lone soldier and do that myself. friends can be the greatest but friends once they start making you cry your eyes out for reasons that don't exist, it's time to move on.

i guess to sum up my train of thought... learn to find happiness on your own. at the end of it all, you're with yourself 24/7. the most important relationship you have is the one you have with yourself. don't ever forget to love yourself first because you can't love anyone else without knowing how to love yourself.

that said, what a fucking shitty weekend!

highlights... JOHN ROBIN! lunch & shopping and a reminder that there are truly kind people in the world. lychee pinkberry too. ummm yes please. asian yogurt flavors and i'm sold.

& well now the sun ain't shining no more

Well now the sun ain’t shining no more,
I don’t know why but I’ve seen it before.
Ain’t got no joy no man to lean on,
He leaves my soul on the floor like a doll.

He was young, he was hot,
he made me feel alive.
so in love I was falling,
ooh, it’s early morning.

soooo remember my birthday gift to myself? my alexander wang? it finally came and definitely doubles as a weight. it's ridiculously heavy but i love it nonetheless. my arm was pretty sore after shopping with it. maybe now i'll actually be able to lift 5 lb boxes at work without heeling over.

when the next three days are over, i'll finally be a free woman. can't wait to go to the beach. i need some vitamin d. i think my knees are giving out. sign of rickets? please no.

on a side note... don't you ever wonder what people carry in their purses? yes i'm nosy. but it always intrigues me. i've seen people whip out the craziest shizz from their bags...

after taking this... i realized how incredibly paranoid and overly prepared i am. i carry two pairs of sunglasses, two cameras, two flash drives, and two ipods on top of my rebecca minkoff coin purse which has now been replaced with a real wallet, mac mascara, my sd card reader, my amazing grace hope perfume, a pen, and of course... keys. and a tampon which i chose not to photog for the sake of others. unused of course.

needless to say i have since removed one camera, one pair of sunnies, and one ipod.
