danger dogs

top: hollister co. // shorts: one teaspoon sailor shorts // sandals: sam edelman

photography: nik sarac

a worthy venture to santee alley. danger dogs are exactly what they imply. dangerous. not because they're ridiculously spicy. mostly because you're not sure what they are going to do to your system.

la weather has been unpredictable so i try to take advantage of whatever sunshine comes my way. revisited my hollister co. blouse from way back when. i used to be a very hollister/abercrombie ONLY kind of girl. i've moved on since then to a little more variety. like these one teaspoon shorts! my favorite brand for shorts by far. the distressing is perfectly man made, something i could never DIY myself.

have a great weekend!

"beefless" portobello stuffed mushrooms

babes helped clean out the portobello mushrooms and take out the stems

from trader joes

mixed the "beef" with a handful of diced onions, 6 diced cloves of garlic, and juice of 1 lemon

stuffed the mushroom caps with the filling :)

placed slices of chocolate cheddar cheese on each mushroom. then popped them into the oven which was preheated to 400 degrees.

roughly 20 minutes of baking and voila! served with a side of vegetable brown rice.

cooking adventures:

i am obsessed with asian tacos. kogi. calbi. really doesn't matter. last night, i decided to make my own. i don't like dry food and chicken, though not the specific one that i used, has a tendency to be dry. therefore, i whipped up a spread with a few basic ingredients that made the tacos taste pretty damn good.

serves 6-8
ingredients:
tacos:
8 corn/wheat 6" tortillas
1.5 cups shredded cabbage
1 bag of trader joes teriyaki marinated chicken breast (or 3 teriyaki chicken breasts)
2 limes

spread:
5 cloves of garlic
1/2 cup diced onions
2 T of sriracha
2.5 cups of shelled and ready-to-eat edamame
salt/pepper to taste
1/2 lime juice

1. preheat oven to 375 degrees. leave chicken breast to thaw if they are frozen.

2. in a food processor (or blender) throw in all ingredients for spread. blend until smooth. it's ok if there are a few chunks.

3. place chicken breast in oven and bake for about 15-18 minutes.

4. in a pan, toast the corn tortillas until golden brown. make sure to pop air pockets in tortillas.

5. spread a heaping tablespoon of spread onto one side of the tortilla and place a pinch of cabbage on the other.

6. take chicken out and let cool for 3-5 minutes. then, cut chicken into cubes and use a spoon to lightly mash the chicken until it is slightly shredded.

7. scoop chicken as desired into taco shells. garnish platter with lime wedges.

fast five 11.22.11

current obsession: knitted sweaters over faux leather leggings.

sorta kinda managed to get that glitter blasted manicure look from last week.

love the holiday season mainly because of the seasonal beverages. particularly, the winter dream tea latte from coffee bean. i bought my own kit so i can have it anytime i want.

today's lunch? mac & cheese with soy cheese and black olives.

and of course, our annual turkey bucks at work.

bikini top bras

top: rubbish @nordstrom
pants: h&m
"bra": one teaspoon
heels: jessica simpson dany
jacket: banana republic

since i sacrificed 110 small fries for that one teaspoon bikini, i figured i'd maximize it's wearing potential by also using it as a bra. since i hate real bras anyways... long story about feeling fat and top heavy... i figured i would use the top as a bra. i love love love the cut outs and the tank top showed just enough of the cut outs. perfection.

post work, sister nancy, boyf marc, best nik, and myself went on our weekly vegancapades. this particular time, we chose flore in los feliz/silverlake area.

marc's mushroom sliders and soup

nik's "BLT"

nancy & i each ordered southwest quesadilla.

across the street is this amazing gelato place that has very unique flavors. i got thai tea, brown sugared bacon vanilla, and earl grey. writing about it makes my mouth salivate. mmm.

have a happy weekend!

dress: LF stores
blazer: kaitlyn
shoes: Michael Kors

my french onion soup @ LA prime.

i wasn't feeling the photography today as i wasn't in any mood to have my picture taken. buttt i really love the deep royal blue color of this dress and thus took a few snapshots anyways. sometimes the most shapeless things actually look the best. this dress resembles a tent with no fit but it works as a loose poncho-like dress.

countdown:
1 day til halloween horror nights
2 days til LA county fair
8 days til vegas trip #1
15 days til vegas trip #2

& there's a place downtown

where the freaks all come around
it's a whole in the wall
it's a dirty free for all

one of my favorite things to do is gallivant around little tokyo with nik. he's an egg. he's yellow in the center. white on the outside. don't hate. he has issues with his identity and i'm the kind soul willing to stick around while he handles his crisis. nonetheless, our last trip was awesome! i finally had that peculiar japanese soda that has that ball (which now i know is completely useless and actually hinders my drinking). i went shopping, duh. and of course nik pretended he's japanese by completely pronouncing menu options at TOT like a bosssss. i of course butcher everything including the english language. i blame it on the fact that english is my third language. really.

i was born a chinese.
raised a vietnamese.
and now i'm a little bit of errthang.
